Protecting Your Pets from Fleas & Ticks

Best Practices for Your Furry Friends

The number of ticks is on the rise once again. It’s never been more important to take precautionary measures to protect your home, family, and pets from the dangers of these often unseen pests. Flea populations are also especially high at this time of year, meaning that the risk of infestation is much greater. Both fleas and ticks can cause harmful complications for dogs and cats in particular, leading to disease and, in some cases, even death.
Weed Man’s Flea & Tick Control Program
Weed Man’s control products can prevent infestations and/or eliminate existing flea & tick populations from your property. Our program includes up to four outdoor treatments during the active flea and tick season. In order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our treatments, visits are scheduled at the height of the flea and tick season in order to control the highest population. This outdoor treatment includes a perimeter spray of your property and in areas where fleas and ticks are mostly likely to be found, such as tall grassy areas, the perimeter of wood lines, natural areas, etc.
In addition to ordering our Flea & Tick Control program (which can be directly applied to your pet’s play area!), Weed Man recommends that homeowners take the following steps to ensure the safety of their pets:
  • Ask your veterinarian to recommend flea & tick control treatments specific to your pet’s needs (collars and/or topical products).
  • Perform regular flea and tick checks, particularly following a walk in a heavily wooded area or an unfamiliar location.
  • Be on the lookout for tick-related illness, including fatigue, limping, fever, and loss of appetite.
